Privacy notice
Backpack collects identity, contact, transaction and device data to open accounts, meet anti-money-laundering duties and run its services; the controller is the Backpack company that serves your region, and this concept summary must be replaced by the reviewed policy before publication.
Version dated . Concept summary, pending review by counsel.
A plain-language summary of the Privacy Policy on the Backpack support site, which it does not replace.
1. Who controls your data
The controller is the company that provides your account: in the European Union "Trek Technologies" SIA for crypto services and Trek Labs Europe Ltd for perpetual futures, in Dubai Trek Labs Ltd FZE, and in the United States Trek Labs, Inc. The sources read name no controller for other regions and no data protection contact. See which Backpack company serves each region.
2. What we collect and why, including identity documents
Opening an account involves an identity check under anti-money-laundering rules. Four kinds of data are handled:
- Identity data: your name, date of birth and a government identity document.
- Contact data: email address, phone number and postal address.
- Transaction data: funding, withdrawals, orders, trades and wallet addresses.
- Device data: IP address, app or browser identifiers and log records.
People ask whether it is safe to give an ID to Backpack Exchange. This page makes no promise on that. What decides it is who processes the document, where it is stored and for how long, and the sources read on 6 October 2026 name no verification provider and no storage period.
3. Legal bases, retention and sharing
Data is processed to perform the contract with you, to meet legal duties such as customer due diligence, to prevent fraud, and with your consent where the law asks for it. Retention periods are not stated in the sources read. Data may be passed to service providers, bank partners, regulators and law enforcement where the law requires it.
4. Your rights and how to use them
Depending on where you live, you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or erased, object to some processing and withdraw consent. Some records must be kept because anti-money-laundering law requires it. To use a right, write to support through the contact details for data requests. If the reply does not settle the matter, follow the complaints procedure or complain to your data protection authority.
5. Changes to this notice
