Editorial and AI-use policy

Backpack guides are drafted by the research team, checked against primary sources and reviewed by the compliance function before publication; AI-assisted drafts are fact-checked by a named person, and the author and reviewer placeholders in this concept must be replaced by named, credentialed people.

Version dated . Concept draft, pending review by counsel.

At a glance

  • A named author and reviewer on every guide.
  • A source and a date for every figure.
  • A named person approves AI-assisted text.
  • Dated corrections, never silent edits.

1. Who writes and who reviews

Guides are drafted by the Backpack Research Team and reviewed by the Head of Compliance. Both are role placeholders. Before publication every guide must show a named author and reviewer, each with a profile page giving role, qualifications and links that verify them. A reviewer is a compliance officer, a lawyer or a qualified investment professional. No invented name, photograph or credential appears on this site. The roles are listed with the company and its leadership roles.

2. Sources we accept

Three kinds of source count: regulator registers and rule texts; primary documents such as licences, terms and fee schedules; and our own measured figures with the date they were read. A number without a source is not published. Licence facts are copied from the register in the regulator's own wording (how licence facts are verified); the proof of reserves guide is an example guide with sources.

3. Fact-checking and review cycle

Each page has a fact-check log: the claim, the source address, the date read and the person who checked it. Fee pages are checked every 30 days, licence pages within 30 days of any change, and guides every 6 to 12 months. A visible review date changes only when the content changes.

4. Use of AI assistance

Drafts, titles, descriptions, structured data and image descriptions may be prepared with AI assistance. Each is fact-checked against the sources and approved by a named person before publication, and that person's name and the date are stored for every page. AI is not used to produce quotes, people, credentials or figures, or to generate pages at scale. Where automation shaped a page in a material way, the page says so. This concept was drafted with AI assistance: its placeholders and every fact marked for confirmation must be resolved by the owner before publication.

5. Corrections

To report an error, write to support with the page address and the source that shows the mistake. A confirmed error is fixed with a dated note that says what changed. Numbers are never edited silently.

What this policy covers

The guides covered by this policy, the glossary, the FAQ and the fee, licence and security pages.

Backpack charges trading fees on the products its guides explain. Each guide therefore carries a risk statement and says it is not investment advice.
